TALIB KWELI
Brooklyn's Talib Kweli made a name for himself with his insightful lyrics and technical skills in the late '90s, rising to fame with Reflection Eternal and Black Star. Kweli's solo career produced hits like Quality (2002) and Eardrum (2007), showcasing his talent. He founded Blacksmith Music and later Javotti Media, releasing albums like Radio Silence (2017). Kweli remained active with projects like two podcasts, a collaboration with Diamond D called Gotham, and the 2023 release Liberation 2 with Madlib. Born in Brooklyn to college professors, Kweli's early love of writing led him to hip-hop in high school. Meeting Mos Def and DJ Hi-Tek paved the way for his success, leading to the critically acclaimed Black Star album in 1998. Kweli's collaborative efforts and solo projects solidified his place as a respected figure in hip-hop, with a diverse discography that continues to impress fans and critics alike. With a prolific career spanning decades, Talib Kweli's impact on the genre remains undeniable.
