ABOUT THE ARTIST:
LA DAME BLANCHE
This year Summer Scene is celebrating the International Folk Art Market with a week of renowned global artists, which concludes with the inimitable Cuban artist La Dame Blanche. With her explosive mix of hip hop, cumbia, dancehall, and reggae, the singer, flutist, and percussionist Yaite Ramos Rodriguez, aka La Dame Blanche, delivers a powerful and compelling sound that summons the spirits

The smoke of an inaugural cigar prior to setting foot on set, a glass of rum left backstage, necklaces, white flowers, a pristine turban: for her appearances on stage, La Dame Blanche feeds the energy of the spirits of Santeria, her Afro-Cuban religion.

KENEP
In March 2021, the idea to form a band that reflects another musical current came up. In July 2022 KENEP was officially founded. Since the beginning, we were experiencing with Zouk.  It was not easy because other members of the group were new to this style, but we kept trying until we get it right. Now KENEP is positioning itself to become the most sort out party band in New Mexico.

Zouk is a musical movement pioneered by the popular band KASSAV in the early 1980s. Zouk is fast tempo and percussion-driven rhythm. Zouk is a combination of Haitian Compass, Salsa, and several African musical styles. As time passes, Zouk gradually becomes indistinguishable from Haitian Compass. This is what we call Zouk-Love. KENEP is doing its best to keep the original concept of Zouk (nice melody and catchy cord combinations). And KENEP is a band that has a promessing future.
