M. WARD
Listening to Supernatural Thing by M. Ward, you might find yourself wondering what year it is—his music evokes everything from the Harry Smith Anthology to Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush. That’s because Ward has mastered the language of American music, channeling authenticity and intimacy with a raw, earthy grace. The album is tender, open-hearted, and full of dream-imagery, featuring guest artists like First Aid Kit, Neko Case, and Jim James, who add unexpected textures—especially First Aid Kit’s shimmering harmonies. Ward’s reflections on memory, dreams, and the mysterious magic of radio tie the album to his earlier Transistor Radio, now expanded with more voices and moods. With eight original songs, plus poignant covers of Bowie and Daniel Johnston, Supernatural Thing is both grounded and otherworldly—like tuning into a ghostly broadcast from somewhere between the beautiful and the strange.
BEBE STOCKWELL
Bebe Stockwell is an American singer/songwriter born and raised in Boston. Drawn to music at an early age, Bebe started playing piano and guitar and making up songs at age six. Her first guitar teacher, an emerging bluegrass songwriter and guitarist who later joined the band Dela Mae, opened the world of country and folk music to Bebe which led her to fall in love with artists such as Gillian Welch and Brandi Carlile, among others. At the age of 15, Bebe attended the Berklee School of Music 5-week summer program which solidified her love for music and songwriting and exposed her to other genres such as jazz, indie and pop which contributed to her versatility when writing songs. Most of all, Bebe is a storyteller. She writes from what she sees, hears and feels while taking inspiration from life, movies, books and stories from friends.
