BARRINGTON LEVY
Barrington Levy, born in Kingston, Jamaica, is one of dancehall's most enduring legends, rising to fame in the late 1970s and dominating the 1980s and beyond with his rich vocals and innovative sound. Beginning his career as a teenager with the Mighty Multitude, Levy quickly broke out as a solo artist, teaming with top producers like Junjo Lawes and recording classics such as “Collie Weed,” “Shine Eye Girl,” and “Under Mi Sensi.” His ability to fuse roots rhythms with dancehall energy reshaped the genre and earned him international acclaim, including chart-topping success in the UK and collaborations with artists like Beenie Man, Snoop Dogg, and Bounty Killer. Despite industry challenges, including widespread bootlegging, Levy continued to release hit singles and influential albums throughout the decades. Still touring globally, he remains a beloved icon, currently working on what he says will be his final album, It’s About Time, featuring a host of major artists and celebrating a remarkable career that helped define reggae and dancehall music.
MISTER KALI
Mister Kali is a New Mexico-based reggae artist known for his boundary-breaking style and deep roots in the Southwest’s reggae scene. Emerging from Santa Fe, he helped shape the region’s sound through bands like Mystic Vision and The Boomroots Collective, blending reggae with hip-hop and activism. His collaborations with Brotherhood Soundsystem, Dub Gideon, and others have earned him acclaim for his electrifying performances and thought-provoking lyrics. With standout projects like Step Fast, the Hungry album, and recent tracks such as “High Grade” and a dub version of “Guns of Brixton,” Mister Kali has proven his versatility and continued relevance. A three-time New Music Award winner, he has shared stages with reggae legends and remains a respected songwriter and producer whose music reflects truth, love, and the complex realities of modern life.
