Los Straitjackets are masters of the 'combo sound-' the two guitar, bass and drums lineup pioneered and popularized by the early Beatles. Using the music of the Ventures, The Shadows, Link Wray and Dick Dale as a jumping off point, the band has taken their unique, high energy brand of instrumental rock & roll around the world. Wearing their trademark Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling masks, Los Straitjackets have also served as the backing band for Nick Lowe since 2016. Their latest release, Somos Los Straitjackets demonstrates why Los Straitjackets have reigned as the kings of modern instrumental rock for over thirty years with shimmering tremolo, relentless drum grooves, and hooks so catchy they don’t need lyrics to get stuck in your head.
FELIX Y LOS GATOS
Felix Gato Peralta is a Chicano singer-songwriter, skilled at vocals, guitar, accordion, and harmonica. Hailing from New Mexico, his music reflects the soul of the Southwest. With songs featured in Netflix and PBS films, Gato's captivating performances have earned him recognition at the Kennedy Center's Arts Across America program. "Felix Y Los Gatos" is a New Mexico power trio that seamlessly merges blues and Cumbia influences. Led by Felix, who impressively handles vocals, harmonica, guitar, and the button accordion, the band explores their Chicano and Native American roots. With a small percussion set that can fit in any small room or big room and standup bass touring bringing danceable blues mixed with Cumbia creating an enthralling sound with rhythms ranging from South America to New Orleans, including elements of Zydeco. They skillfully mix their sound into a flavorful musical gumbo, infused with the spice of New Mexico's green chile. Touring regionally, they deliver powerful performances that pay homage to their New Mexico heritage.
