ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Tribute bands unite! New Mexico’s favorite Grateful Dead tribute band Detroit Lightning joins forces with Led Zeppelin tribute band Moby Dick. Come down to the Plaza to honor two major music legends.
DETROIT LIGHTNING
Celebrating over a decade of captivating New Mexico's Deadheads and music enthusiasts alike, Detroit Lightning emanates from a nostalgic spark, offering an authentic tribute to the enduring legacy of the Grateful Dead. With rich three-part harmonies, expansive improvisations, and a rock-solid rhythmic foundation, the band delivers a true Grateful Dead experience infused with their own fresh, distinctive flair.
Ben Wright's (guitar) interpretation of Garcia's iconic solos brings a new dimension while honoring the essence of Jerry's tone. Josh Martin (bass) channels the Phil sound with a funky edge, adding a grounded groove to the mix. Paul "Feathericci" Groetzinger (drums) expertly captures the Dead's double-drummer essence, infusing it with his own infectious, funky drive. Kevin Zoerning (keys) skillfully navigates through the Dead's vast keyboard repertoire, blending elements of jazz, classical, and a hint of every musical genre imaginable.
Beyond their collaboration in Detroit Lightning, these seasoned musicians have graced New Mexico stages for years, contributing to various bands including D Numbers, Boris and the Saltlicks, David Berkeley, Joe West, Mary & Mars, and The Circus Luminous Orchestra.
MOBY DICK
Moby Dick has a simple goal: to do justice to some of the most influential, challenging and generally kick ass songs in the history of hard rock... In short, to pay tribute to the legacy of the World's Greatest Rock Band, Led Zeppelin. Moby Dick's live show draws inspiration primarily from the classic 1973 "Song Remains The Same" Madison Square Garden footage, capturing the look and sound of Zep at their prime. The set list spans the group's entire discography however, from the early bluesy rock of "Good Times Bad Times" and "Heartbreaker" to later more adventurous tracks like "Nobody's Fault But Mine" & "Kashmir". Powerhouses like "Whole Lotta Love" & "Black Dog" are interspersed with the more nuanced "Ramble On", "Over The Hills And Far Away" & "Stairway To Heaven". Be it 45 minutes or 4 hours, a Moby Dick performance has something for just about everyone, unless they don't like Zep of course.
